Beinn Fhionnlaidh

My first solo munro!

This was a hike and a half.. Starting at the parking area at the public road end in Glen Creran, it took me half an hour to get to the bottom of the hill. I followed a track turning left at Glenure Lodge the pondered for a little while at what direction to go. A kind man assured me if I headed through the fence and followed the track until it lead off to the right through the forest, I could not go wrong. On the hike up there were butterflies and frogs everywhere!

The ridge was beautiful. I found the most impressive glacial formation which I was certain was too perfect and must have been put in place by humans.

Weed in the lochins glistened under the bright sky.

I could not have picked a better day. When I was sitting on the cairn slurping some Heinz tomato soup, there was hardly any clouds in the sky and the 360 degree views were spectacular.

I was in perfect shape at the top but felt like I was going to die on the way back down. It’s a good thing the views kept me going.
